Project proposal: Mr. P. De Wet is proposing to establish 19 single residential erven inlcuding internal roads and infrastrucutre on an erf approximately 1.5902 hectares in extent. Access will be taken from Lumley Avenue.

Regulatory requirement: A Basic Assessment process in terms of the 2010 Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations is being followed for this application. EIA activities – Government Notice (GN) No.R544: Listing Notice (LN) 1:11, 18, 22, 23 and GN No. R546: LN3:4, 12, 13 & 16 and in terms of the 2014 EIA Regulations - GN No. R983:LN1:12 & 19 and GN. No. R985:LN3:4. As such authorisation from the competent environmental authority, namely the Provincial Department of Environmental Affairs & Development Planning via the EIA process is necessary.

Description of activity: The upgrading and realignment of an existing unsurfaced access road from Camp Street in Arniston across Farm 264/7 crossing Farm 264/4, terminating at a residence on Farm 264/7. The access pathway provides access to residents of Farm 264/4 and 264/7, Bredasdorp RD.

Die voorgestelde prospekteerings aktiwiteite val binne Aktiwiteit 19, 20, 22, & 27 van Staatskennisgewing R983 en Aktiwiteit 19 & 21 van Staatskennisgewing R984. 'n Volledige Bestekopname /Omgewingsinvloed bepaling Proses sal dus uitgevoer word. Kennis geskied ook kragtens die Nasionale Wet op Omgewingsbestuur: Afval, (NEM:WA), 2008 (Wet 59 van 2008) vir 'n aansoek vir 'n afvalbestuurslisensie (Kategorie A: Aktiwiteit 15). Kennis geskied ook kragtens die Wet op Minerale en Petroleum Hulpbronne Ontwikkeling (Wet 28 van 2002) vir die aansoek vir 'n prospekteerreg.

 NOTICE OF SCOPING/ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT

Proposed Prospecting Application over a number of farm portions, Pietermaritzburg RD, Kwa-Zulu Natal

Applicant: Momumax (Pty) Ltd is proposing to undertake prospecting activities for Lithium Ore, Industrial Minerals and Dimension Stone. Prospecting activities will be undertaken over a period of 36 months and is for both invasive and non-invasive methods. Invasive methods comprise of trenching/drilling, bulk sampling and sampling storage. Non-invasive methods include desktop research and include detailed geophysical surveys.

Legislation: Notice is hereby given of a Public Participation Process in terms of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act No. 107 of 1998), (NEMA), as amended, and the EIA Regulations 2014. The proposed development triggers activities under Listing Notice 1 (GN. No. R.983)- Activities 19, 20, 22 & 27; Listing Notice 2 (GN. No. R.984) – Activities 19 & 21 and as such a Scoping/EIA Process is applicable. Notice is futher given in terms of the National Environmental Management: Waste Act, 2008 (Act No. 59 of 2008) as the activity will require a waste management license (triggers Category A: Activiity No. 15). Notice is also given in terms of the Mineral and Petroluem Resources Development Act (Act No.  28 of 2002) as the application requires a prospecting right.
